Comb your wings and polish your horns, it was finally announced the release date of the second season of Good Omens!
On May 10, with a tweet on the official account of the series, was announced the release of the highly anticipated second season for July 28, which will be available as always on Amazon Prime Video.
A new adventure for Azraphel and Crowley
The first season of Good Omens, released worldwide in May 2019, was a huge success. Based on the novel of the same name written by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, the episodes followed the story of the angel Azraphel and the demon Crowley struggling with an impending apocalypse that they miraculously managed to prevent. But what will happen in the second season? Neil Gaiman said:
“It’s thirty-one years since ‘Good Omens’ was published, which means it’s thirty-two years since Terry Pratchett and I lay in our respective beds in a Seattle hotel room at a World Fantasy Convention, and plotted the sequel. I got to use bits of the sequel in Good Omens — that’s where our angels came from. Terry’s not here any longer, but when he was, we had talked about what we wanted to do with ‘Good Omens,’ and where the story went next.” And now, thanks to BBC Studios and Amazon, I get to take it there. I have enlisted some wonderful collaborators, and John Finnemore has come on board to carry the torch with me. There are so many questions people have asked about what happened next (and also, what happened before) to our favourite Angel and Demon. Here are the answers you’ve been hoping for. We are back in Soho, and all through time and space, solving a mystery, which starts with an angel wandering through Soho, with no memory.”
The cast, between old and new characters
Next to Devid Tennant and Michael Sheen we will find many members of the cast of the first season as: Paul Adeyefa, Michael McKean, Gloria Obianyo, Miranda Richardson, Maggie Service, Reece Shearsmith and Nina Sosanya .
Jon Hamm will return as the Archangel Gabriel. He will be joined by the angel Michael, played by Doon Mackichan and the angel Uriel, played by Gloria Obianyo. They will be joined by two new angels, Saraquael and Muriel, who will play as Liz Carr and Quelin Sepulveda. The cast will also feature Ty Tennant and Peter Davison, the son and father-in-law of David Tennant, who will play Ennon and Alistair, two characters whose names are known only.
Good Omens 2, the episodes and the trailer
The second season will have six episodes, exactly like the previous one. Neil Gaiman will continue to be executive producer and co-showrunner alongside Douglas Mackinnon, the new director of the series.
As far as reuses the trailer, it has not yet been released. But to announce the arrival of the second season, The Hillywood Show made a funny short film. The video is a parody of the series with Gaiman’s involvement.
